(TNO) Cảnh sát Miami ngày 26.5 đã bắn
chết tại chỗ một kẻ "ăn thịt người" khỏa thân đang nhai ngấu nghiến mặt
của một người đàn ông khác trên đường MacArthur, ở thành phố Miami, Florida (Mỹ).
Các nhân chứng kinh hoàng cho tờ Miami Herald biết một người đàn ông khỏa thân vồ lấy một người đàn ông khác đang đi trên đường.
Người đàn ông này nhiều lần yêu cầu người đàn ông khỏa thân máu lạnh
tránh xa ông ta ra, nhưng hắn ta đã đẩy ông này ngã xuống đường, cắn nát
và nhai ngấu nghiến phần mặt của nạn nhân, như muốn ăn tươi nuốt sống
nạn nhân.
Cảnh sát ngay lập tức có mặt tại hiện trường và yêu cầu người đàn
ông khỏa thân dừng lại nhưng người này không nghe, buộc cảnh sát bắn hắn
ta một phát.
Sau khi trúng một viên đạn, người đàn ông khỏa thân vẫn tiếp tục nhai
ngấu nghiến mặt của nạn nhân, cảnh sát buộc phải bắn thêm nhiều phát
súng và người này chết ngay tại chỗ.
Theo Miami Herald, nạn nhân đã được đưa đến bệnh viện cấp
cứu, trong tình trạng hết sức nguy kịch, phần mặt của ông dính đầy máu
và gần như biến dạng vì những vết cắn của người đàn ông "ăn thịt người".
Phát ngôn viên cảnh sát Miami Javier Ortiz cho biết viên cảnh sát bắn chết người đàn ông "ăn thịt người" khỏa thân máu lạnh được tôn vinh là một anh hùng vì đã cứu mạng người đàn ông trên.
Hiện cảnh sát đang tiến hành điều tra nguyên nhân vụ việc.

Sở Cảnh Sát Miami nay khuyến cáo các cảnh sát viên phải thật cẩn thận khi đến gần những người đàn ông vô gia cư có hành động khả nghi và cũng yêu cầu công chúng phải ngay lập tức thông báo với cảnh sát nếu họ thấy người có hành động giống như bị ảnh hưởng của loại ma túy mới. (V.Giang)

MIAMI (AFP) - Cảnh
sát Miami vừa lên tiếng cảnh báo công chúng về một loại ma túy mới, ảnh
hưởng mạnh đến trí não người sử dụng, có tên là “Cloud Nine-Chín Từng
Mây,” sau khi xảy ra vụ một người đàn ông vô gia cư nhe răng đe dọa sẽ
cắn ăn hai cảnh sát viên, chỉ một tuần sau khi xảy ra một vụ nhai mặt
người.
Loại ma túy này là một trong những loại mới được chế tạo từ một loại
ma túy không bị cấm, được gọi là “bath salt” có bán công khai. “Bath
salt” nghĩa đen là muối pha để tắm, nhưng cũng có loại ma túy mephedrone
được bán dưới nhãn hiệu “bath salt.” Loại ma túy mới này được cho biết
là chế tạo từ mephedrone, và bị nghi là nguyên nhân đưa đến cuộc tấn
công tuần qua của một người đàn ông trần truồng nhe răng cắn nát mặt một

MIAMI — The naked man who tried to eat another man's face before he was shot dead by police was identified Monday.
The
man he attacked remained in extremely critical condition Sunday night
at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Much of his face was gone, the skin ripped
away, the nose bitten and the eyes gouged.
What remained was his goatee and little else.
"We're
hoping that he pulls through, for his well-being, but also so he can
tell us what happened," said Sgt. Javier Ortiz, vice president of the
Miami police union. "Only he knows."
The victim still had not been officially identified Monday.
The
macabre scene unfolded about 2 p.m. Saturday on the MacArthur
Causeway's off-ramp to Biscayne Boulevard. A Road Ranger spotted the men
and shouted on his loudspeaker for the naked attacker to back away. A
woman also saw what was happening and flagged down an officer.
One
witness said he was riding his bicycle on the MacArthur when he saw a
man tearing off pieces of the victim's flesh with his mouth. After an
officer approached, Larry Vega told WSVN-FOX7, "The guy just stood, his
head up like that, with pieces of flesh in his mouth. And he growled."
The
officer fired, striking the attacker, but the man kept chewing, Vega
said. The officer fired again, hitting him several more times,
eventually killing him.
After that, Vega said, all he saw was blood.
"It's one of the most gruesome things I've ever seen in my life in person," he told the station.
The name of the officer who fired the fatal shots was not released Monday.
Eugene
left behind few clues as to what could have prompted the attack.
According to court records, he married Jenny Ductant on Dec. 15, 2005,
in Hollywood. The marriage ended in divorce after a little more than two
years.
"I wouldn't say he had mental problem but he always felt
like people was against him. … No one was for him, everyone was against
him," his ex-wife told WPLG.
He had just one arrest to suggest
serious violence. Miami Beach police arrested him on a battery charge
when he was 16, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
The charge was later dropped.
He was arrested seven other times
over five years. Court records show that one was for misdemeanor
battery, one was for vending near a school, one was for trespassing and
four involved marijuana. The last case came in September 2009. In
January, the charge was dropped.

building captured snippets of Saturday's violence as the two men — one
dead, the other gravely injured and wearing only a shirt — lay on the
sidewalk as officers arrived.
Days later, the chatter, theories and questions continued.
An
emergency room doctor at Jackson Memorial Hospital said Eugene's attack
could have been induced by bath salts, a drug nicknamed after the
bathroom product it resembles.
Police theorized earlier that it was "cocaine psychosis," a drug-induced craze.
Police look for witnesses to face-chewing attack
MIAMI (AP) - Authorities were seeking more witnesses Tuesday to
help explain what led a naked man to start chewing another naked man's
face and whose only response when confronted by police was to growl and
keep attacking - even after being shot.
At least one witness so far has said he saw the attack Saturday on a
busy highway off-ramp. Police have identified the attacker as Rudy
Eugene, 31.
The victim, who has not been identified, is in critical condition at a
hospital. Both men were naked at the time of the attack, The Miami
Herald reported.
"We know that there were many people on the MacArthur Causeway and
we're hoping they come forward," Detective William Moreno was quoted
Monday by the newspaper as saying.
Police have released few details about the attack, other than confirming that an officer had fatally shot a suspect.
A police spokesman and the Miami-Dade County medical examiner did not
immediately return telephone calls Tuesday from The Associated Press.
Witness Larry Vega was riding his bicycle Saturday afternoon off the
MacArthur Causeway that connects downtown Miami with Miami Beach when he
saw the savage attack, he told local news media.
"The guy was, like, tearing him to pieces with his mouth, so I told him, 'Get off!'" Vega told Miami television station WSVN ( http://bit.ly/L6kwWt ). "The guy just kept eating the other guy away, like, ripping his skin."
Vega flagged down a Miami police officer, who he said repeatedly
ordered the attacker to get off the victim. The attacker just picked his
head up and growled at the officer, Vega said.
As the attack continued, Vega said the officer shot the attacker, who
continued chewing the victim's face. The officer fired again, killing
the attacker.
A surveillance camera from The Miami Herald building nearby captured
images of the men's naked legs lying side by side after the shooting.
Vega said the victim appeared gravely injured.
"It was just a blob of blood," Vega said. "You couldn't really see, it was just blood all over the place."
Vega declined to speak Tuesday with The Associated Press. He said he was trying to put the attack behind him.
Ives Eugene, who identified himself as Rudy Eugene's uncle, described
his nephew as a "nice and hard-working" man who washed cars at a local
dealership.
In a telephone interview, Eugene, 55, said his nephew had asked his
girlfriend to borrow her car, but she said no. "So he rode the bicycle,
and he never came back home."
Ives Eugene said the family heard Monday about the attack but did not know what sparked it.
Rudy Eugene's ex-wife declined to be interviewed when reached by The Associated Press by telephone.

The homeless man whose face was
eaten off by the 'Miami cannibal' during a horrific, 18-minute attack
was a star student at a prestigious New York school before he became a
down-and-out.
A yearbook picture of Ronald Poppo was obtained by the New York Daily News,
who reported the victim was in the Latin Club and worked in the
guidance office at Stuyvesant High School before he became homeless.
According to his long record of petty arrests, he spent the last four
decades in Florida and nothing is yet known about how his tragic fall
from grace from top student to a life on the streets.

After paramedics tend to the victim's facial injuries, they carefully place him on a stretcher.
As
they carry him from the walkway where the attack took place to the
ambulance, he starts to wave his arms around and has to be strapped
down.
The harrowing attack, which has shocked America, took place on Saturday afternoon on the MacArthur Causeway near Miami beach.
Rudy Eugene, 31, originally from Haiti, chewed lumps of flesh from Mr Poppo's face after stripping and beating him.
New
footage of the almost 20-minute ordeal was released hours after the
first picture emerged of the victim - as well as stomach-churning images
of his horrific injuries.
The
video shows that a number of cyclists and drivers passed by and did
nothing to stop the brutal attack. One driver slows down before driving
off, though police say he then called 911.
