(11) VIDEO: Vietnam 1945

The Year 1945: Saigon, Da Lat, Quy Nhon, Hue
Old Precious Color Footage of Vietnam

Indo-China it was called in 1945. Right after the Pacific war ended Saigon looked quite peaceful. After the independance Saigon was named Ho Chi Minh city.

Thank you for sharing such a precious gem footage. However, it would be more historically appropriate for this video clip to call it as "Peaceful Saigon (or former Saigon City) in 1945". Saigon was named by Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu since the 17th century ("the name was used officially in 1698"). Indo-china name was used for all 3 regions, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Lao and considered as one by the French-colonials. Ho Chi Minh was only named after the annexation of South Vietnam.
